Default Make PvE Titles/Map Account Based, not Character Based.

Every character I make has access to the PvP titles I unlock on one character, why is it different with PvE titles? I beat every mission/bonus/master on one character, let me show off the Protector title on my other characters! If I make a new character, I want to be able to display some of my hard earned titles on him, makes it much easier to get a group if you can show you've already beaten everything. Same with the other PvE titles like Drunkard or Grandmaster Cartographer. I go through all the trouble of getting access to these titles on one character, and then I'm suppose to go through it again so my other characters have access to it. Just doesn't make sense that my elementalist can show off a Gladiator title that my warrior earned, but I can't do the same with a Protector/Grandmaster Cartographer title.

Also, I know this has been suggested before, but make maps account based too! I don't mean letting lvl 1 characters have access to every warp point my other characters have been too, but if I go through the hours and hours of getting a 100% complete map, I think my other characters should be able to make use of it too.

Wow, what a great idea inscribed! I wish I had thought of that. You really took the words out of my mouth. I only hope that Anet implements your idea as soon as possible!

No!

The difference between PvE characters and PvP characters is the roleplay.

Your PvP only characters are disposable depending on what you require at any given time. Your PvE characters need to have time and effort invested into their development. They have to gain their own experience, explore the world themselves, and acquire their own equipment through trade or exploration.

You Gladiator Title may have been earned over many different characters. Your Protector/Grandmaster Cartographer MUST be earned on an individual character.

If it was account based and you showed up with the Protector of Tyria title on your Monk (that you earned on your Warrior) you would not be able to play the missions the same way of have the same perspective. Therefore you would be more of a liability to the party than an asset.

Keep PvE titles with the individual character. If you make a new character in PvE - play the character and earn the titles if you desire.

So...
You don't agree with my idea because you think I need to develop a personality for each of my PvE characters? Not sure I understand.

I spent close to 15 hours total gameplay fleshing out my Tyria map to get the 100% complete title. I like maps. I use the one in Guild Wars quite a bit. Seeing the 100% complete map whenever I hit 'M' makes feel all tingly inside. But if I spent that much time getting the map and the title, I should be able to use it on other characters I have, and I'm not just talking about new characters, I'm talking about other characters I have that I've already finished the game with. I just don't see any reason why it would be character based, other than the developers would have to change a few things to make factors like 'number of chests opened' and 'minutes spent drunk' shared between characters.

And with the Kind Of A Big Deal title, I have a character thats 3/5 towards it, almost 4/5, but when I actually do earn it, I won't be able to show it off on any one else except the one character, and lets face it, if you managed to max out 5 titles, there probably won't be a whole lot left for you to do in game with that character, at least until a new chapter is released.

The only way to make Kind of a Big Deal account based would be making more of the PvE titles account based, and I honestly believe more people would go out for the gold-sink titles, if they were account based.

Protector Titles (less likely, and probably shouldn't), Drunkard, Treasure Hunter, Seeker of Wisdom, Skill Hunter ~ These all -could- be account based, and some even make more sense account based (Skill Hunter) because of current game mechanics.

I don't really see how this would hurt the game. Also take out the need to do the befriend kurzick/luxon quest for each character.

pvp titles are account based because the characters are use once and reroll.

PVE have been begging for this the way it is.

*please give me some way to show off the character i have spent so much time on*

/one character not account

I'm not sold on map ACCESS between characters. Getting from one city to another really doesn't take that long at all.

However, yes... with all the work I've put into getting my monk all around Tyria and Cantha, unlocking chests and ID'ing gold items... it's a bit upsetting that getting on my ranger reflects -none- of that hard work, or that nobody can distinguish my warrior -monk (who appreciates the job of monks) from the Whammo who uses mending and aggros the world. ><

More account-based titles that more accurately reflect our time kthxbai

The PVE Titles are such a huge time sink and take a huge amount of work and skill to get therefore they should also be account-based.

I for one do not even wanna bother making new characters because I don't wanna have to go do mapping and all that again and it would bug me knowing that the new characters will never have those titles hence are inferior to the one I got them on.

Saying PVE chars are all about roleplay is silly. There is no actual roleplay that goes in in Guild Wars.

Some classes have it easier on some tasks than others, no doubt. But even so...

Regardless of what class you use, covering all that ground takes a lot of time, a lot of work and a lot of skill.

Therefore you should get account-based credit for everybody if you were able to do all that throughout multiple classes.

they're character-based for a reason despite how much time it takes to achieve them

would be great if there was an account based title that tells everyone that you played multiple PvE characters and have earned the so called protector titles for every or most professions

What reason would that be?

Because I'm pretty sure the only reason the PVE titles were made character based in the first place, was because there would have been extra work involved in making factors like "number of chests opened" or "% of map explored" shared between characters, not due to some sort of philosophical reason.

However, if there is enough support for this, then maybe the developers will revisit the titles and throw in the added work.

I like this idea, having the map unveiled would make the grind of taking multiple chars through the game easier. Granted the outposts would have to be missing so you couldn't map around to places you havn't been.

I got the Drunkard title on my level 1 mule warrior, I really don't want to see it on my other guys. Or even have it be an option.

The protector titles are all about knowing the mechanics of that particular profession. I don't wan't any of my characters to be able to share the titles that I worked so hard to get on my monk. For instance, when I display the Protector of Cantha title on my monk it says that I can keep you alive without making you wait days for me to regen. When I get those titles on my other characters it will say something completely different. The same can be said for mapping, you have to do it differently depending on what profession you are using. I don't want that to be shared with my other characters!

What one character earned in no way says anything about skill with any other character.

I don't care about titles either way, but I _would_ go for the Master Cartographer if it meant that a char I made after that would benefit from it, like having the major towns already on the map, in Tyria. ("Oh, but then you could get the armor from Drok's, enter Cantha, not fair, this is PvE, you should re-do it every time!" - if you could get the cartographer title, chances are you can afford the 5 plat it takes to get run there anyhow.)

Some of the PVE titles should be account rather than character based, especially those that are money sinks (treasure hunter/wisdom). I would be much more inclinded to go spending vast amounts of money on keys if these titles applied on all my characters. After all you moneyis available on all accounts via storage, so why shouldn't the biggest money sink titles be available too?

I dont think that the Cartographer titles should be account based though. I have Grandmaster on both continents on my Ranger, but my new Necro certainly has not explored the whole of both continents. Exploring is a whole different game in each class, with some classes having a much much easier time.

The Protector titles should definitely remain per character. Seeing someone with that title means that they know how to play THAT class well. If you saw a monk with that title looking for a PUG you would expect to get a good monk on your team, but if they got that title playing a necro and played the worst monk in the world, you would not be very happy when your team died! LOL

Kind of a Big Deal would be nice to be able to show off on all characters though, so perhaps there should be a Kind of a Big Deal (Character) and a Kind of a Big Deal (Account).
